SLCC 15 Day 2
Thursday was a really great first day, we were able to get in, search around, catch a few panels, and hit up some vendors. Friday was a day with a schedule. I had my first of two photo-ops, a few panels I wanted to catch, and we needed to pick Mark and Lisa up from the airport that night. Because of the airport pick-up we decided to drive since we should be able to park at the conference center with Tom's work badge. Turns out the conference center parking was closed (bummer) and we ended up having to park south of the convention center at a public parking area. Good news was, the parking fee wasn't anymore than our tickets on the train would have been.
Of course there was some queuing to get into the convention center and we had to walk from one end to the other for the photo-op, so that meant awesome costume spying and photo taking.
We started the day with our Sebastian Stan photo-op. Sebs has been in a handful of TV shows and movies, the ones I recognize him from are: Kings (Jack Benjamin) - this is a rather interesting AU version of Saul and David's story, Jack is John; Captain America: First Avenger (Bucky Barnes) - this role, Bucky, is why he was at comic con and is most well-known role; Once Upon a Time (The Mad Hatter) - he was amazing in this role and I really want another arc with him because his story isn't finished; and Captain America: Winter Soldier *SPOILER ALERT* (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) - I think he has like 4 lines in this movie but it is one of the single best performances I've seen in ages in a movie.
Anyways, because of the popularity of his photo-ops, they were super organized and during the 60 minute photo-op window we were all assigned a 10 minute window. Tom and I were in line, through the line, got the photo, got our print, ordered our digital copy, and were done in only 40 minutes. It was totally awesome.
After the photo-op we headed over the Grand Ballroom to catch a few panels. We decided that it was worth attending the Sean Astin panel (because you know Goonies was pretty cool and then there is that Lord of the Rings thing) so that we would be in there already for Seb's panel. It was a pretty good panel and he seems like a pretty nice guy. I haven't always been a huge fan of his characters but I think I can get behind the man, it was at least entertaining.
Seb's panel was great. It would have been better is we didn't have at least four people ask him about Captain America: Civil War which he is contractually obligated to not talk about, but it was still pretty cool. Some of the highlights for me were: Q-What was your favorite comic book to read when you were young?, A-I didn't have comic books because you know I was a communist; Q-Do you like America or Romania better?, A-Umm...well America, of course, I was very blessed to end up here and have the opportunities that I've been given. The ultimate moment though was when someone asked him a question in Romanian and the expression on his face when he realized that was what was going on. He responded in Romanian, so I have no idea what was discussed, my best guess is that was the Civil War spoiler section of the panel. It was a really cool panel but after sitting in a small chair for two hours we were ready to walk around some more and find some grub.
We had a few hours before our next scheduled panel so we did some more wandering. Which means more costumes.
I am not sure how she got in with the frying pan, but it was awesome.
The last panel we went to Friday was "Leonard Nimoy: A Retrospective". It included a slide show with photos from his life, some back stage stuff, some stories, and memories shared from the audience. It was a very well done panel and I'm glad we went.
After that panel we caught up with Mijin for a little to hang and plan out our photo-op for Saturday morning. While we were waiting to catch up with her after her Seb photo-op we wandered back around Artist Alley and then settled down to people watch.
We finished the night off with picking up Mark and Lisa from the airport and finding out that I won a single entrance to the Chris Evan's panel for Saturday morning. I had to be at the convention center by 8:20 so it was going to be an early start.

That's a very convincing Spock.
