Buddy's Surgery Update
Buddy's surgery went pretty good. The day of his surgery everything went well and I headed down to the vet to pick him up at about 6:00 pm. I did the check out and paid the bill when the surgery tech came out to tell me that the vet needed to talk to me. Apparently, when they stood him up, he started bleeding everywhere and the vet wanted to keep him over night. I told them "yes" and waited for about an hour to hear about what they were going to do for the night.
I got a call from the vet's about mid-morning the next day and was told that he was great and there had been no additional bleeding so I could come pick him up. They really wanted me to make sure that I kept him calm because they were worried about him popping a suture and the bleeding issue to continue. So when I got home I put the gates up to confine him to the main floor (no stairs) and brought his crate downstairs so that we had a place to contain him while we were away. The thing is, Buddy isn't a huge fan of crates, but Izzie loves them:
I also moved my "office" to the dinning room table for the next couple of weeks so that Buddy wouldn't have to be in his crate with the cone-of-shame on more hours than not. So this is Buddy hanging out while I work:
He always ends up lying under foot, no matter where I'm working:
At the first week check-up we got the all clear on his tooth. He had to have one of his back molars removed. We also got the results for the biopsy on his growth on his scrotum. It was a benign haratoma of blood vessels. This is just an abnormal growth of regularly occurring tissue and in Buddy's case it was the blood vessels that used to have a function going crazy. Once the biopsy came back the vet was confident that the "bleeding issue" was really the growth and so we shouldn't be worried about there being an actual bleeding disorder.
The week two check-up was when he got his sutures out. He was thrilled to no longer have them in because they were a little itchy. But with the removal of sutures came the long-needed bath, I was able to put the living room back together, and move my office back to my actual office. We are glad that he is well and that his growth was not something that we need to be worried about going forward.
