Comic Con Day 1 (Thursday 9/4)

Thursday was Day 1 of Comic Con 2014. I spent the morning in appointments and at the DMV registering Carla. I finally finished up my errands and such at about 1:30 pm. At this point Tom and I headed downtown for the event. We got there at 2:00, which is when the doors opened. We had hoped to get in and inline for the first panel of the day at 3:00. However, the line was nuts and there was some confusion as to who should be in which line and who was able to enter which doors.

So, Tom and I headed to grab some dinner and Tom headed home so he could get ready for work. I got in line and waited until they finally decided to allow those with entry bracelets in without standing in line with those that needed the bracelets or were there to purchase tickets. This was at about 3:45, so I totally missed the panel, but I headed straight for the ballroom to catch the next panel.

I ran into an old college buddy in the ballroom as people were coming and going between one panel and the next.

Lana and I after the panel

The panel I was waiting for was the Colin Baker and Paul McGann who both played to Doctor on Doctor Who during various stages of its earlier run. They were both lovely gentlemen and seemed to be having a pretty good time.

They agreed to meet a fan's service dog, the puppy was really cute

After the panel I strolled around the convention floor to see what was there. This was a little Mos Eisley replica that is used for the back drop to a pod cast (it seems that I've managed to loose the business card...so, can't remember the name).

Hanging out at the cafe

I ended the day out with two final panels: Women of Sci-Fi and Fantasy: More than Just Strong and Han Shot First: Character Defining Moments. They were both pretty good and it was nice to spend some time at the "smaller panels". They are nice because the room is a little smaller, there are multiple panelists, and it is a little more conversational than the large panels are.

After the panels I caught the train and headed home. I finished my day by running a few more errands.

PS. This calling has kept me plenty busy this past week.
