Relief Society President
We had a change of guard today at church. Our Relief Society president and her husband are moving out of the ward this weekend and so she was released. She has been an amazing leader and I feel that I have learned a lot about how to lead the way the Savior led.
She has taught me that when she felt the best about her work and felt that she had been able to best serve was when she came to each sister individually. She also taught me that it wasn't just the one on one time that worked alone, but that she had to meet with each sister with a heart full of compassion for whatever that sister was going through or wherever that sister was at in her spiritual journey.
I mention these lessons that I have learned because today she was released and I was sustained and set apart. I am both excited and anxious for this opportunity to serve. I was lucky enough to have 3 amazing sisters accept the call to serve with me in my presidency and I am so excited to work with them as we seek to serve and strengthen the sisters in our ward.
There is one overall feeling that I've had and that is how very much I enjoyed my time as a counselor in the previous presidency and how I know that the Lord has a plan for me, my presidency, and the sisters in our ward. I have already seen his guiding hand in helping me to recommend sisters for my counselors and secretary. I look forward to learning to recognize his hand more in my life. One of my goals is to follow Sister Burton's advice to "first observe, then serve".
