Visit Home 2014

Tom and I just got back from our trip to visit my parent's back in Gilmer. First, a huge thank you to Mijin for watching our house, our pups, our ferrets, and taxing us back and forth to the airport. You are truly awesome!

We spent the week hanging out with my dad. We helped him build a fantastic shelf, which is mostly complete now. The only thing that he has to finish the sanding and then decide if he wants to stain or paint the shelves. This shelf represents the first of many that will line the walls of his library. It is going to be totally great when he has it finished. I wish I had a picture to show you, but that leads me to the one real "oops" of the trip, I totally forgot my camera...wah, wah, wah.

We also went over to see Junior and it was the first time that Tom had ever seen a dairy farm. Dad had a good time explaining how everything worked, but I think he was a little disappointed that Tom didn't get to see the cows getting milked. Dad was even a good sport and went and saw The Amazing Spider Man 2 with us. What a sport.

Our trip was capped off with a short visit from Tom and Kristine and their kiddos. They drove down to my parents house after school on Friday and spent Saturday with us and headed home after church on Sunday. All the kids sure have grown and they are pretty cute. Tom (my husband) loves to joke around and so as Tom and Kristine were loading their kids back up to head home my Tom leaned his head in and says, "Man you guys keep getting smaller and smaller every year". Four of the kids just looked confused, the oldest one gave Tom a small grin, and the youngest replays "No. We get bigger and bigger every year!" That youngest one is a hoot. Tom and Kristine and us had a little double date and went down and saw Captain America 2 (which I personally enjoyed more than SP2) and had dinner. It was a nice little afternoon.

I did pick up some little goodies while I was there, my favorite is this old school photo of my dad:

Isn't it great? No year on the back, so we are guessing between 10-12 years old.

It was a good trip and we always love spending time out at the old Hickory Hills. We loved seeing the folks, a few uncles, and a few cousins. Hopefully, we can do this again sooner rather than later.
