Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was a lot of fun. We started the season out with a family photo, it took several attempts because of the dogs, but we finally got one.

We spent Christmas Eve with Glenn and Shirl, Rebecca and Troy and some other cousins and family. Christmas Eve is always full of small niblits of food, opening PJs, playing games and hanging out. We had cheese, crackers, little smookies, ham, rolls and a vegetable tray. All very delicious and then there was the slice of Rebecca's sweet potato pie. The best one around. Glenn and Shirl are always so nice and get us a present or two.

This year they took pity on the sad state of our mismatched dishes and old nasty silverware and got us the cutest new dish set and a nice new silverware set.

We had to do some rearranging to fit the plates because they were a little larger than the ones we had previously. But, we figured it all out and I even like it better now. The night would not be complete without opening our PJs. This year I decided to make our PJs instead of buy them. There were a couple of glitches here and there since I'm still learning, but they are wearable, so it all worked out.

Christmas morning we woke up and opened our stalkings. We got the puppies some treats, I got Tom a couple of gift cards and a comb and Tom got me a gift card, a CD and a laddle.

We waited until after church for our real presents. We got the dogs a new tug-of-war rope, a Halti lead for Shadow and a leash coupler. We are hoping the new lead will help make it easier to walk to the 90 pound beast and if that works the coupler will allow one of us to walk both of them from one leash. So here is hoping that it works out. I got Tom a new pillow, a CD and a new disc case and Tom got me the complete MASH series, a CD and a cookbook. Overall a really good Christmas.

After that we went up to the Madsen's for dinner. We got to see Tom's brothers and a couple of the kiddos. It is always good to see the family. Susan got us an emergency crank lantern and the dogs a bunch of treats.

It was a really great Christmas. We got all the things that we wanted and then some. We were even more blessed to spend time with family. It would have only been better if we could have seen my parents too. We really miss them since we are so far away and can't see them as easily as we can see Tom's family. Anyway, Merry Christmas all and hopefully I will be more on top of these posts.
