Well, Dad and Doug managed to get out of Texas yesterday with a truck and trailer load of stuff and got to my place at 3 this afternoon. They made the long haul straight through and they were still standing 8. I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, I'm glad that they made it safely and in one piece. Tom told me that there is a lot and I'm slightly afraid to go home and see the disaster that is the pile of new boxes and such, but at least mom and dad have some of their place cleared out.
Books 2016: A Generation Rising
This was our book club book last month. It is the first book in Lund's new series. From his introduction it appears that it will be another epic one. He plans on folowing 2 families from the late 1890s through tomabout 1980, or something like that. This first book follows one family in Germany from roughly 1890 theough to the end of WWI. It was moving alomg pretty well and I was enjoying it. In the middle it slows way down to allow for the "missionary" experience. I think that part could have been integrated into the story a litle better than it was, but omce he got past that it moved along pretty well again. Overall, the book is about 300 pages and covers a lot of time. The second book is out already and appears to be much more "Lund" like in length, but I haven't read it yet and neither has any of the ladies in my book club.
